On Monday, Instagram and Twitter were ablaze with reports of drama between Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid. However, this latest bit of drama was so subtle, I couldn’t even figure out WTF was going on at first. It involved an Instagram (re)-follow, a comment, and a dirty delete and it all happened faster than you could say “The Weeknd”. Luckily for you, I’m here to explain this entire scenario that for some inexplicable reason, we all care about it, so let’s dive in.
Like any feud, you have to first understand the history between these two. Sources tell In Touch (does anyone even read In Touch anymore though?) that Selena and Bella were never really friends, but they obviously knew of each other because they both A) are friends with Taylor Swift, B) are super famous and; C) used to date The Weeknd. Hating your boyfriend’s ex? A tale older than Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriends. Hating the new girl your boyfriend’s fucking? That’s something we – especially myself – are all guilty of. In January 2017, when Bella learned that Selena was dating The Weeknd, she gave her the modern day middle finger, and unfollowed her on Instagram. Two months later, Selena and The Weeknd both unfollowed Bella Hadid in turn, which was probably their form of foreplay before fucking to Abel’s music. Don’t @ me on this one, you all know that The Weeknd has sex to his own music. Stars, they’re just like us!!!
ANYWAYS, Selena and Abel (we’re on a first name basis now) broke up in late 2017, and since then, things between Selena and Bella seemed to have been fine. This all changed Sunday night when Bella posted a picture of herself. Selena commented “stunning” with the heart eyes emoji, and the next thing we knew, Bella deleted it. Fans of both ladies speculated that the photo was deleted because Selena had commented on it. While I admit that that could be a possibility, it would be insanely odd. Maybe Bella deleted it because she wasn’t getting as many likes as she would have hoped? Or maybe she is really that petty. I don’t know her, so I can’t say! BUT, if it were me, you could say that she was that petty. Even my mom would agree. PS, if you’re reading this, Hi Mom!
This became breaking news when a Selena Gomez fan account posted the photo, the comment, and called attention to the delete. The fan account captioned the post “She’s all about supporting women. You all just can’t take it nicely. Btw Ms. Hadid deleted the post”. Is Ms. Hadid a teacher? Why are we using the formalities? Weird. If you can’t understand what this caption says, I’ll break it down. Basically, it just means “Selena Gomez is all about supporting women, Bella Hadid just can’t take a compliment from her ex’s ex / or she wants the clout and deleted the post”. Selena commented “That sucks” with a sad face, and that’s it. That’s the tea. It can be summed up in a sentence: Selena Gomez tried to comment something nice on one of Bella Hadid’s Instagrams, so Bella responded by deleting the entire post. ~Cool~. Not gonna lie, it’s kind of a power move on Bella’s part though, like “my enemy commented on my post, so I’m just gonna tell her to shove it by deleting the post entirely!!”
Fast forward to this morning (if you’re still following, it’s Tuesday at this point), where Selena tried to put the rumours to rest. In a new Instagram comment (why is everything being done on Instagram?!) on a pic Elle Magazine posted about the feud (CAN WE EVEN CALL IT THAT?), Selena said “NO. I shouldn’t of spoken without knowing the truth. I’m sorry. Please don’t be hurtful. She is a wonderful person and it is all a misunderstanding.”
Soooo, Bella probably deleted the photo because she wasn’t getting enough likes or something that makes more sense. Totally completely unrelated to Selena Gomez. Well, I’m glad to know that my brain can still jump to conclusions as fast as it used to. Now, if you need me, I need to figure out what my boyfriend is doing when he stops answering my texts for 2 hours, and why. Cheers!!!!
