The most highly anticipated event in the entertainment industry took place last night and today was spent doing what we love most, talking shit about people’s outfits while munching on donuts.
Here are our faves from this year’s Oscars:
Margot Robbie in Chanel
You know what they say, you really can’t go wrong with Chanel. Pretty much the same goes with Margot Robbie. She always kills it; she looks so angelic and so delicate… So delicate that her dress broke and she had to sew the sleeves back herself. Crafty and chic! Plus that sparkly ball purse is everything.
Sandra Bullock in Louis Vuitton
I love how polished and sleek this look is with her glossy hair parted slick down the middle and her dress fitting her like a glove. I write this as I look like Miss Congeniality pre-makeover and she looks like she hasn’t aged a day since filming it.
Rita Moreno is wearing the same dress she wore to the Oscars in 1962 and I can’t fit anymore into a pair of pants that I bought last week, so yeah. Queen of repeating outfits, a woman of my caliber.
Lupita N’yongo in Versace
Lupita wore a Vibranium inspired off-shoulder gown that gave a nod to Black Panther without going all cosplay on us. From Wakanda to the red carpet, Lupita is always a glowing goddess. But seriously, someone DM me her skincare routine- she’s doing something right.
Gal Gadot in Givenchy
Call up Gatsby, because Gal looks like a 20’s wonder in her flapperesque sequin fringe dress. In order for the dress to be fully appreciated it needs to be in movement- perfect for Boomerang. Though it must be noted that I think I love her Vanity Fair party look just as much, she really can’t go wrong with red.
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
Jlaw’s gunmetal sequin column gown looks v badass paired with her rocker chic smokey-eye and the glass of wine she accessorized it with for most of the night. The dress makes a statement for female empowerment as it is designed by one of the few female creative heads of a main fashion house. Time’s up, bitches.
Eiza González in Ralph Lauren
This dress is giving me major Andie Anderson vibes in all the best ways. Being the breakout star that she is, this is the perfect dress to catch everyone’s attention on the carpet. Her figure tho. Gonna go nosh on some kale, and pretend to go to the gym. Bye.
Btw, we totally wrote about yellow being one of the top colours of the season, and yellow dresses being sexy af in our “Spring Trends 2018” article and well damn… Eiza didn’t disappoint.
Zendaya in Giambattista Valli
Um ok, Zendaya can do no wrong fashion wise. Only she can make the colour brown look this chic. Anyone else would be lost in all this fabric, but our girl Zendaya looks like a Grecian goddess. Her make up is also flawless.
Nicole Kidman in Armani Privé
Nicole Kidman is one of those celebrities, whose red carpet looks rarely disappoint. I love her because she is never boring and wears dresses that only she can pull off. I mean look at this blue Armani Privé gown, only a tall, statuesque amazon like Nicole Kidman could pull this one off.
Best Beauty – Jennifer Garner
Aesthetically, Jennifer Garner perfectly exemplifies the glow-up after breaking up with a toxic man. Although I think the design of her dress is a little too Prom-ish for me the color looks radiant on her. Her effortlessly glamorous combed-over beach waves gives off IDGAF vibes. Sucks to be you, Ben. This is the best she has ever looked.
Honourable Mention: Kendall Jenner in Redemption
This is the kind of a dress that only a super model can wear. I mean wow, there’s nothing boring about this sexy little black number. It’s so extra in the best way possible. Her body looks banging, her face is stunning, don’t even get me started on those Lorraine Schwartz emerald chandeliers.
