The sun is (sort of) shining, the patios are filling up, my allergies are acting up……. I guess spring is finally here.
Let’s face it – new season, new you. That’s how it works right???? And with a new you comes a fully stocked new wardrobe, a renowned skin regimen and a Scott Disick ‘Flip It Like Disick’ style full house transformation.
At least in my dreams.
Let’s Talk Skin Care
Skin care is my recent obsession – and it should be yours too. Suddenly, having a proper skin care routine is more important than having a good Instagram feed. I’m really into the millennial’s recent interest in skin health. What a turn of events. Alas, allow me to share my current skin care favourites with you. Here we go, bare with me.
Step 1. Cleanse. Cleanse. Cleanse.
First and foremost – is a good cleanser. Lately, I’ve been hooked on oil-based cleansers. Due to my extremely sensitive skin, I have always struggled to find the PERFECT cleanser. I’ve tried dozens – from drug store products to high end, and finally, homemade.
Oil-based cleansers magically break down any build up on your skin while simultaneously removing your makeup. Basically, they’re a great investment. Here’s one to try:

Step 2: Exfoliate
Dr Dennis Gross: Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel Pads
Like virtually everyone I know, I have been cursed with nose blackheads. Ugh. But, I have found the perfect solution, three words: Dr. Dennis. Gross. Although expensive, these products are life-changing. I have been using the Dr. Dennis Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel Pads for years now and I promise you they work miracles. No wonder celebrities like Olivia Palermo are raving about these products.
The pads come in three different versions: ultra gentle (I have opted for these ones because of my sensitive skin), however, if you do not have sensitive skin I recommend the universal daily peel or the extra strength. You will see results within just a few days and become hooked on this product just like I am. The product comes in two steps, the first to exfoliate & smooth and the second is an anti-ageing neutralizer. Also, if you don’t feel comfortable making the splurge yet, Sephora offers 5 treatments for $22.

Step 3: Let’s Mask
Laneige’s Lavender Water Sleeping Mask
With my recent overflow of exfoliation, I have decided to indulge in hydrating masks, rather than the typical exfoliating ones. I have been really into Laneige’s products lately; however, their Lavender Water Sleeping Mask takes the cake. This product is lightweight and applies similarly to a gel-based moisturizer. I love the delicate lavender scent and know this is the perfect product for spring hydration.
This mask is limited edition – so get your hands on it while you still can!

Origin’s Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clean Pores
Looking to unclog your pores? Wondering if the recent obsession with charcoal in the beauty industry is worth your coin?
Charcoal has proven to minimize the appearance of pores through its deep-cleansing abilities. I have seen a significant improvement in my skin with this mask – it is a gem. Origins is another skincare line I really love. This mask works to reduce dullness, uneven skin texture, oil build up, and to reduce visible pores. The mask is available in a 30mL option, priced at $16 and their standard 75mL size for $33. Keep reading and I will talk about one of Origins’ moisturizers that I’m also using.

Ahhhhhhhh, you have finally reached my absolute favourite part of my entire skin care routine. Lately, I have been living for the ‘no makeup makeup’ glow, putting me on the search for the perfect hydrator to give me that dewy look. My OBSESSION right now lies within squalane oil. I have always suffered with dry, flaky winter skin, which has forced me to try what feels like hundreds of different moisturizers. But I have finally found the hidden gems and I’m here to spill.
Indeed’s Squalane Oil
I am not lying when I tell you I am head over heels obsessed with this product. I use it day and night as the final step in my skincare routine and it leaves me glowing. Indeed’s Squalane oil is sourced from 100% sugar cane and has been clinically proven to hydrate, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (or future wrinkles). The oil is fragrance-free, light-weight, and does not leave you with a gross thick oily face. It’s perfect. All you need is 1-2 drops and you can smother it all over your face until you see your instant glow.
I use it in the morning to prep my face before applying any makeup, which leaves my skin glowing underneath my tinted moisturizer. Even on no makeup days, this product leaves my skin with the perfect finish. At night, I apply this product a little more generously, at 2-3 drops and spread it all over my face, eyelids, and neck. Even if you’re not ready to give up your favourite moisturizer just yet, apply 1 drop of Squalane oil on top of your favourite moisturizer for increased hydration. Priced at $16.19 CAD, Indeed’s Squalane oil is my die hard product right now. Just trust me on this one, okay.

Origin’s GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer
Prior to being hooked on Squalane Oil – I was using this product religiously. This gel-based moisturizer is super hydrating, leaving your skin with a dewy finish and smelling like fresh oranges. I love citrus scented skin care!

Step 5: Pucker Up!
I am a die-hard lip balm girl. Day and night you will find me applying my lip balm over and over and over again. Here are some of my all-time favs:
Kopari’s ‘Coconut Lip Glossy’
Ever since Kopari hit Sephora, I have been incorporating all of their products into my skin care routine. Kopari’s Coconut Lip Glossy is a cult-favourite and I can see exactly why. This all natural lip balm is made with coconut oil, shea butter triterpenes, and squalane 😉 (told you all). The lip balm leaves your lips feeling silky-soft and hydrated to perfection. The lip glossy comes in three shades: original ( I use); pinkini, which has a sheer, bright pink finish; and birthday suit, with a sparkly finish.
This brand is amazing. I am such a huge fan of Kopari’s natural products and find myself repurchasing their products time and time again – they’re that good. If you’re interested in Kopari, I also highly recommend their coconut deodorant, coconut melt, and coconut face cream.

Another cult-favourite is Rosebud Salve. When I tell you I’ve been using this product since I was 12 years old, I promise I’m not lying. This beautiful product leaves your lips with a shine and comes along with the perfect rose scent.
