It’s fall! You may not know this, but you probably do due to all the memes about it getting dark at 4pm. The best part of fall is undoubtedly the fashion. Big, cozy, cable knits, baggy boyfriend jeans, and adorable booties are likely going to be your uniform for the next few months. I’m a huge neutral girl (seriously all of my clothes are black, white, grey, or beige) and fall is all about the neutrals so I love it even more.
The comfy girl vibe is totally in these days, influencers like Lauren Elizabeth and Maggie MacDonald are bringing it back by dressing with comfort in mind over style, but somehow never not looking stylish. A baggy hoodie or sweater can be paired with so many things, and even if you pair it with a simple pair of leggings, your style can easily be elevated through accessories – which is exactly how Lauren Elizabeth keeps her outfits on point. A nice belt, purse, pair of hoops, or necklace can truly help you go from chill to chic. Maggie MacDonald is obsessed with her Jennifer Fisher hoops and wears them every day with her hoodies.
I can get into accessories another time, but with cold weather looming, we need our sweaters! I have been hunting for the perfect ones, and am ready to share my findings (I already bought my sizes so I’m not worried about them selling out). So go get your credit cards and get ready to drown in knits and neutrals.
I had to put this first because if you’re only going to buy one sweater – this one should be it. I swear to you that this is the comfiest, coziest piece of clothing I own. I will be buying all the colours and I have not taken the grey one off since I bought it. I really like it because it isn’t oversized, oversized sweaters are super in right now which I like, but it’s nice to change things up once and a while with something a little less baggy. At $110 CAD, this sweater isn’t overpriced, it’s a knit hoodie which I always find feel more expensive than the non-knit ones, and is well worth it.
Aritzia is always amazing with their sweater collection. Every year I go back and end up buying more. This cardigan is so versatile that it’s a must-have in a good fall wardrobe. You can actually wear it with the buttons in the front, or with them in the back, so you can wear it two days in a row and nobody will notice. I got the black, but I’m obsessing over the true camel colour.
This hoodie isn’t knit, but it’s so soft and comfy. I wear this guy over leggings when I’m going to the gym and I find that because it’s so structured it doesn’t look schleppy. The Gd Honey Beige totally goes with my neutral vibe, and I can wear this over a white tee with some jeans and be set and cozy for the day. You’ll catch me wearing this a ton this season.
Colour blocking is super in right now. I’m seeing it all over my explore page on Instagram and really vibing with the tones. I also love how most of the colour blocking is done in neutral colours so it isn’t too much. The name of this sweater alone sells it, I obviously need anything that’s made with the coziest yarn.
This sweatshirt by The Great is a classic, Arielle Charnas is obsessed with it so obviously, that means I am too. They just came out with this adorable print with little black hearts embroidered on and I need it. Pairing this with jeans and a little heel would make the perfect date night/dinner outfit.
This sweater is super elevated, with fringe details, side seam slits, and multiple cable-knit patterns all over, it has everything you need in a sweater. I love the way Revolve styled it, with leather leggings. You can never go wrong with grey because it goes with virtually everything, so this sweater is a must-have.
My Agolde jeans are my favourite jeans of all time, so I feel like just through like relation this sweatshirt will also be a fave. This definitely fits in the oversized sweater category with a wide/boxy fit. The turtleneck isn’t too much, and since it isn’t knit material it will probably not irritate your neck (sometimes I find turtlenecks too itchy on my neck). The navy colour is to die for, I will even add some colour to my wardrobe because I’m so obsessed.
Finally, onto the last sweater I have for you. Another oversized option which looks super comfy. I love the detailing on this one, you could pair it with a silk skirt for a night time look, or just jeans for the day! The balloon sleeves look nice, but not too large which is important.
