We may not like being told what to do, and we may not like people meddling in our lives and our decision making. So why is it that so many millennials like me are so interested and intuitive to their horoscopes?

Do any of us really know what we’re doing? I like to fake it till I make it confidence-wise, but I’m not always sure of myself and my decisions. Sometimes we just want some guidance from someone who isn’t our mom or dad, older sister, or best friend.  As helpful as they can be, it’s nice to have a sort of opinion from someone who knows nothing about your life (yes, I am referring to the stars as a someone and yes, I am slightly embarrassed with myself).

Astrology is defined by Merriam-Webster as “the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world.” There are twelve-star signs, they’re all based on where the moon and the stars are placed in the sky during a specific time period.  Everybody has a designated sign based off of their birthday.

The super interesting thing about astrology is that it’s like a weather report, but for your mood! I love reading my horoscope every day and thinking to myself ‘oh, I’m feeling this way for a reason!’ I want to believe in something guiding our lives in the right direction, I want to believe that everything is happening for a reason.  It lets me have faith in something that’s out of my control which is really refreshing these days.

I think deep down we all love to be able to blame our actions or thoughts on something, we want to know why we feel a certain way and astrology gives us the answers that we want! I love knowing that I’m a Taurus and knowing that could be why I’m super stubborn. I love meeting another Taurus’ and seeing if we have tons in common. I am totally that person who looks up astrology compatibility when I start seeing someone.

We see brands like Fresh creating custom lip balms for astrology signs and Bite Beauty making lipstick colors specifically for each sign. I think these marketing schemes are interesting, and I love how brands are trying to incorporate such a popular trend into makeup and similar products. Creativity and faith are two things that are super important in life, they keep us on our feet and keep us consistently questioning and learning things about ourselves which is essential in personal growth and self-care.

With astrology it’s clear that we love to learn about ourselves, as we’re becoming more and more open about mental health and self-care I think astrology is an amazing way for millennials to learn more about themselves and put some thought into what makes them happy and what they should focus on to put themselves first! At the end of the day, you are the most important person in your life and astrology is another amazing way to keep pushing yourself to be a better person!
