Maybe it’s just us, but it seems like dying hair fun, crazy colors has pretty much become normal practice. We don’t even think twice when we see someone with blue hair anymore. But full-on coloring your hair a dramatic new color can be scary, especially if you’ve never done it before! So we’ve found some easy, subtle ways you can begin to play with your bold colors if you’re nervous about taking the plunge.
1. Rose gold tint
Adding a little bit of rose gold into your hair is a super easy way to experiment with color. It’s almost like a more luxe version of the ombré you’ve probably already tried (or even easier, already have)! It’s so subtle, yet so chic.
2. Hidden Layers
Hiding your color underneath your natural hair color is such a creative way to color your hair a bold shade without fully committing to an all-over dye job. Plus, if you’re still uncomfortable going with such strong colors, you can opt for tones that more closely resemble your hair color, like pretty pastels for lighter hair colors or deeper jewel tones for darker hair colors.
3. Colorful ombré
You know it, you love it, you’ve probably already tried it, but ombré isn’t just for natural colors! Ombré can be a great technique for adding a little color to ya’ life, too. Plus, you can do it in a low-key way by picking tones close to your natural shade. For example, if your hair is black, a deep blue shade will meld well without being too electric.
4. Opal tresses
At first glance, opal hair might seem better suited for those with super light hair, but it’s actually gorgeous on all hair colors! The trick is not going too bold with it so as to keep it more of a subtle multi-dimensional coloring than a bold rainbow look, so as to get that magical, gemstone glow.
Now to just pick which one we want to try out next…
